History

The Rennteam was founded in 2005 by Michael Kissling, Konrad Paule and Sebastian Seewaldt, who also took over the team management for the first two years. After the support was secured by the University and the Research Institute of Automotive and Vehicle Engines Stuttgart (FKFS), a total of 30 motivated students were found for the project. This was followed by the foundation of a non-profit association.

In the first four years, the Rennteam was housed next to the FKFS in a container that had workshops, offices and warehouses. In the summer of 2009, the team moved into the new new addition to the FKFS.

Structure

The team management is divided into three core sections: technology, organization and controlling. The registered non-profit association is a legal entity. This is important because the independence is guaranteed, tax benefits are given by the tax office and tax-deductible receipts for donations can be issued. Furthermore, there are technical and organizational teams. On average, the Rennteam consists of about 35 students mainly from the school of engineering. Since the team is reformed every year and only a few members continue for a second year, it was necessary to implement procedures to pass on important knowledge to future teams.
